I never was a JW.
I watched Jackson's testimony before the ARC.
He is a liar, a prevaricator, and has no credibility whatsoever.
at the agm this year geoffrey jackson identified the "man with a secretary's inkhorn," of ezekiel chapter 9 as being jesus christ.
this was declared an "adjustment" from the previous understanding that the organisation used to believe that this "man" was "the annointed.".
has the society always taught that the "man with the secretary's inkhorn" was someone other than jesus - or is this a situation where back in the mists of time the bible students understood him to be jesus, and then rutherford (or someone) identified him as "the annointed," and now they have reverted back to their initial belief?.

i never was a jw.. wtbts and its hydra-headed organisations world wide has charitable status.
yet, as far as i can see, it carries out little or no real charitable works.. last weekend my son and his friends did a 420 km cycle ride and mountain walk in aid of a local hospice at home charity.
they've raised (so far) 5,000. this charity makes a real difference.. this a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ijr7ipvrek&feature=youtu.be.
Well, not my place as I never was a JW ...
But I say 'Bollocks' to their claim to be a charitable organisation.
And I will say this to the next (in a long line) of JWs who come to my door.

Thanks.
This was a happy weekend, although all involved were completely knackered. (I am the smiling guy with the take-away coffee!).
What struck me was that these are ordinary ('wordly') people, doing something for other people.
The WT people - who have no idea - just can't touch this in terms of 'charitable' work. And they deserve (IMHO) to be condemned for this.

Of course, I am inordinately proud of my son and these guys. But these are ordinary guys, motivated by nothing more than 'ordinary' humanity.
What a contrast - and what a waste of effort by JWs.
i have just reviewed the arc evidence given by this man.
it is pathetic.. i am now retired, but until then my professional life was spent in the legal arena.
toole fumbles his way through his answers, fails to understand the principle of 'instructions', and so much more.

Toole has proved himself to be a dickhead. That he was -apparently - senior legal counsel for WTBTS Australia can only make them a laughing-stock.
scotus: kentucky clerk must issue same-sex marriage licenses.

This is a comment from a British citizen, a never-was JW, and someone who was a cop for 30+ years.
I swore an an oath when I was appointed. That gave me powers and responsibilities, for which I was personally liable. It made me liable to prosecution at Common Law for misconduct in my office. The powers were substantial.
I exercised my powers in accordance with the law. That changed from time to time. If at any time I had found that what the law required me to do was incompatible with my personal beliefs I could have resigned my appointment.
I have, I am afraid, no sympathy at all for this woman or her supporters. She has been found to be in contempt of court, has failed to purge her contempt, and has properly been punished for that contempt. In an organised society, where the courts are the guardians, there could be no other outcome. One complies with the law, or on suffers the penalty.
It is interesting to contemplate alternative scenarios. What if, for example, there was a US state, or county, where Islamic voters prevailed and it was legal for a man to have three (or more) wives? A county clerk (because of her religious beliefs) declined to issue marriage licences for the second and third marriages? If the majority democratic will of that state/county was otherwise, what would happen?
This is not a purely hypothetical question.
i've been looking again at the coverage of the arc examination of jw witnesses.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bonw67c9sew.
in particular, watch this again from 1h47m to the end.. i think i've made this point elsewhere, but you will rarely see this sort of thing happening in courts (maybe outside tv perry mason stuff).. in the context of british/aussie polite courtroom speak, the witness is accused of lying, his (the wt) lawyer is quick to disassociate himself from the lies, the lawyer offers a consultant's sick certificate, the judge tells him 'that won't help', and jackson is scheduled for the following week.. this doesn't happen very often and stripping away the polite courtroom speak is very revealing..

from the november 2015 watchtower:.
what have archaeologists found that shows that jericho was captured in a short time?.
joshua 6:10-15, 20 says that the israelite soldiers marched around the city of jericho once a day for six days.
This is well worth watching in its entirety.
within the first few minutes, mr. stewart asked geoffrey jackson if the members of the governing body consider themselves to be god's spokesperson on earth.. his response: "that would be presumptuous of us" (implying that they don't consider themselves to be god's sole channel of communication).. to me, that was the worst lie of about 26 lies he's told during this hearing.
however, mr. stewart missed an opportunity to call out mr. jackson on this bold-faced lie.
he should have asked him to explain why the watchtower magazine teaches otherwise.
Please bear in mind that the point of the ARC was/is not to investigate JW theology, it is to put forward recommendations as to how abuse can be better dealt with. The questions about JW heirarchy and organisation were intended to identify, organisationally, whether and at what level change could be brought about.
Interesting that Jws giving evidence found the need to be so deceptive.
